Hello! For most of us, this little stretch from, say, now through New Year’s Day is probably the most hosting & guesting we’ll do all year, so let’s talk about a couple ways to be a great host and a great guest…

Around here, we’ll attend a lovely handful of things: a white elephant happy hour, a poker-&-leftovers party, a cozy night in at some friends’ new apartment, a New Year’s Eve party, and a dinner with friends we always mean to catch up with that we’re finally getting on the calendar while kids are off school next week.

I know most of you will gather with extended family, too (we did a lot of that, in a very good way, in Texas and Michigan earlier this month), and also ‘tis the season for office parties, neighborhood parties, cookie parties—the week before last I attended a lovely cookie party AND spent a day in the kitchen with friends baking, so we are not at a loss for sweets around here!
