Hosting & Gathering in Small Spaces
If there’s anything I know how to do, it’s host in small spaces!
Even before we moved to an 825 square foot apartment, I’ve mostly lived and hosted in relatively small spaces—college apartments, a little townhouse I lived in after college, our family’s cottage in Michigan. I’ve always dreamed of a big entertaining kitchen, a huge island, a long table, but for the most part, I’ve cooked in small to medium kitchens and crammed people into every corner of every home we’ve ever lived in.
You know that Norwegian saying “there’s no bad weather, only bad clothing?” That’s how I feel about hosting in small spaces—there’s no bad place to gather, you just have to have a plan that fits!
When you’ve got a small space, you do have to be a little more strategic and a little more creative. You do have to plan a little bit more—here are a couple things that have helped me:
